The all-new 2010 Audi RS5
By Benjamin Cyr
Many changes will be seen in the Audi line-up in the next year. The S4, S5 and the all-new RS5 will all received new engines. And it might surprise you...
The S4 and S5 will trade their 4.2 litre V8 for a supercharged 3.0 litre V6. The power will be essentially the same (around 330 HP) but the amount of torque will be significantly higher and more usable a low and mid-range. In addition, this unit will be much lighter than the V8. We will also see a brand new seven-speed twin-clutch DSG transmission and the latest iteration of Audi’s Quattro four-wheel drive system, which uses a torque vectoring active rear differential to assist cornering.
As for the all-new RS5, it will use a twin-turbo version of the 4.2 liter V8, producing 450 HP and 340 lb-ft of torque. This should be able to give the new BMW M3 (and the upcoming M3 CSL) a run for his money.
