2008 BMW 335xi

Still pretty traditional
Even though this 335xi offers a very sophisticated all-wheel drive and a power train that stuns the competition, it is not flawless. The asking price of our tryout stands at $56,450; with the ‘luxury package’ we should expect an interior that breathes luxury and innovation. Forget it! The austere running board confirms the lack of innovation. For the faithful owner of older 325i’s ,you’ll feel right at home with these minimal changes. On the bright side, the simplicity makes it easy to adjusts the controls but let’s say we’re far away from the Cadillac CTS or the Infiniti G35 cockpits. Also, the standard feature of these two are many and the rear seating inviting. But no one will ever complain on the comfort level of the seats and the great support they provide.
One element , however, the 335x can lord over the other manufacturers, is the handling; whether it be, accelerating, braking, and taking sharp curves, steering stability never falters. The powerful brakes match the instantaneous thrust of the 300hp. Few sedans can travel 0-100km in 5.6 secs, and this one does it without hesitation or effort.
Unique experience
The 3 series does not cater to everyone; the back could be more spacious and the standard features seem a little skimpy considering the hefty price. But if you have the means to go after a great, unique and uplifting ride you will look long and hard for a match.
Note that the 328xi (230hp) starts at $43,600 vs $52,500 for the 335xi.
