2008 Cadillac CTS
By Benjamin Cyr
Road-test liked:
- the all-wheel option;
- the very competitive starting price;
- the superb interior finish, whether it be the materials or the dashboard;
- the beautiful design;
- the braking power;
- the vehicle’s overall stability;
- the quick shifts of the automatic transmission;
- the cabin’s comfort;
- the choice of two state of the art engines;
- good general performance.
Road-test disliked:
- the CTS’s imposing weight;
- high fuel consumption (15 1/100 km);
- the numerous options which rapidly raise the price;
- the malfunction of certain sensors(tire pressure, «check engine»);
- accelerations below those of the competitors;
- occasional heavy steering.
We can overlook certain flaws
With a starting price of $38,900 for the basic model and $41,400 for the fuel injected version (add $4,500 for all-wheel drive), the CTS can be excused for certain shortcomings. The retail price seems very competitive for a beautifully assembled sedan with a superb interior. It will please many a consumer excepting certain speed and agility types. This new CTS represents the finest Cadillac ever produced. |
