Bentley Continental 2006
By Benjamin Cyr
In terms of road handling you can’t compare a Bentley to a sports car because that not the goal. Yes, you do feel the weight at low speed and while coasting, but handling in long curves is excellent, especially when the suspension is adjusted for low riding. Obviously, the suspension is sometimes brittle on Québec roadways, situation not made easier by the very low 20 inch tires (275/35ZR20).
To show off
Like a Ferrari or an Aston Martin the Bentley loves to be admired for having such a wealthy owner....The Bentley is a natural show off. But also very comfortable on long trips with its superior performance level.
And so to the millionaires out there, I need not bore you with talk of high fuel consumption or high maintenance or insurance costs....If you want a real Grand Touring car, you can’t go wrong with this Bentley.
Second opinion - René:
A big Volkswagen Phaeton! That’s what I told myself when I first sat in one. Granted, what it reflects is far superior to the flagship people’s car, but the genetic link is obvious. Add the fact that the comfort level on a long trip suffers due a lack of leg space, although less noticeable on the driving side.
However, testing this vehicle is more akin to pleasure than work. This is also the best car to make all the drivers of BMW, Jaguar and company seem like nothing more than vulgar members of the middle-class. |
