Chevrolet Equinox 2007
By René Gervais
Relatively unchanged in 2007, the Chevrolet Equinox carries on without fanfare or splash. This is not to suggest failure on its part, however, if you’re looking for the hot vehicle of the day, look elsewhere. But, if the Equinox grabs your attention, know that you’re not alone. I feel it handles daily chores very well.

Handling impressions
All right, driving an Equinox and driving a Corvette Z06 have nothing in common, and so it should be, considering the more than $50,000 difference in price between the two Chevrolets. On the other hand, the driving experience is not awful and after a week of driving the Equinox, I give it a positive rating. In fact, I have only one major knock, that being the poor parking performance. Firstly, there’s the lack of visibility, attributable to the narrow rear windows and the huge headrests which make the blind spots treacherous. Also, the considerable width of the A and B posts compounds the problem. One would assume that had our Québec overpasses been given this level of support, several recent tragedies might have been avoided! Secondly, the turning radius makes aligning the vehicle between the shopping mall parking lot’s double lines difficult. |
