Ferrari F430 2005
By Benjamin Cyr
Once the motor running, I press slowly on the pedal and the unique and incredible concerto begins. You really feel like you’re aboard a Formula 1. Palettes mounted on the steering wheel vary the speed with spectacular quickness. I’ve gained some confidence after a lap and now I’m at high velocity enjoying the Ferrari. What a dream!
The F430 has everything you could hope for in a Ferrari. The incredible road hugging provides a high level of G lateral in the turns. The seats, thankfully, provide more than adequate support! The car remains stable in the turns with the electronic stability system working its magic which allows the pilot to concentrate on enjoy himself. I never imagined taking turns at that speed in a production car, it’s a crazy sensation.
On top of incredible handling, theF430 gets you out of turns in a hurry. Packing 23% more power than the deceased 360 Modena, the accelerations are simply brutal. I can hear the engine sing as I pass the 8500revs/min and I’am still welded to my seat at when I reach 235km/h on the Mont-Tremblant strait away.
I have to brake now so I jump on the pedal because the turn is coming at me at quite a clip. My God, what a surprise! The power is so great that my thorax is squashing into the belt. In no time at all I’m down to 70m/h ready to handle the turn. I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life. I found the Maserati Coupe’s braking impressive yet the Ferrari seems twice as powerful. Regardless of speed, braking distance is so short, the power indescribable and all this in serene calm. Note the $25,000 price tag for the optional ceramic and composite brakes.
This wraps up my experience aboard the F430. Its performance pretty well matches that of the Ferrari F40, the manufacturer’s icon produced in limited quantity. Strangely, this level of performance can be found in the most affordable in the Ferrari stable. Quite a feat! |
