Honda Element 2007
By Benjamin Cyr
Road-test liked:
- At the risk of repetition, the quality of the materials and assemblage never diminishes at Honda.
- the Element’s reliability record since its introduction;
- the low fuel consumption for this class;
- The interior’s versatility makes possible the loading of long and sizeable items by splitting and moving the rear seats, in addition to the low cargo bay and the interior floor’s urethane finish;
- the improved look for 2007, especially the SC version;
- many security features for all versions.
Road-test disliked:
- Due to rear seat design, only four persons can fit into this Honda;
- Performance is ordinary with a full vehicle;
- The $29, 900 for the SC model which doesn’t have all-wheel drive.
In short, if you like the look, try it and you’ll be surprised by its versatility and storage space. Also, a average fuel consumption of 10 litres per 100km in such a storage winner is a rare thing and lest you forget, you’ll have the peace of mind shared by all Honda owners.

I agree that the Element SC should have been the first Element. Much more pleasant to drive and it manages to turn a few heads .The basic model, however, attracts for the wrong reasons yet the SC evokes the stare which asks: “Is that really an Element?” We wrote about it after our try-out in 2004. The Element is practical, easy to handle, and impeccably assembled. The only thing lacking were looks. It now has them. Let’s hope it’s not too late. |
