Saturn VUE 2008

Road-test likes:
- The choice of engines. The two V6s offer sound performances;
- The six-speed automatic transmission is smooth and efficient;
- Road adhesion seems sure for an SUV;
- Good braking;
- Much better quality plastics but (see below...);
- Tasteful interior presentation;
- The comfort of the front seats;
- Interior room matches the best in the category;
- Competitive pricing.
Road-test dislikes:
- The 3.6 litres, V6’s fuel consumption. Although the engine itself does not match the great gas guzzlers, for a small SUV, it’s considered high;
- The assembly progresses but there’s room for improvement;
- But the plastics are too prevalent;
- Though the braking distance seems adequate, the pedal lacks feel.
Conclusion
The VUE 2008 should please the majority of buyers. The equipment lacks for not, the performance is more than adequate and the price competitive. The prior model was passé but with this new generation, Saturn has become an important player in this very competitive market. Everything has improved compared to the preceding model yet ‘Saturn’ should not rest on its laurels like it has done in the past. If ‘Saturn’ continues to improve the vehicle over the years, the VUE will be among the best of its class. |
