Volkswagen Jetta 2007

Three letters that makes the deal different
Like the Rabbit GTI, the GLI is a sport version of the Jetta. The 2.OT, 200 hp.engine develops 207 lb.-ft of torque and comes with a six speed manual transmission or a DSG, the latter showing up in an Audi TT 3.2 circa 2004. Palettes mounted on the steering wheel allow for either an automatic or manual ride. What sets the DSG apart from other Triptonic boxes is the use of two shifting mechanisms making gear changing extremely rapid; the second quickly engages the next speed while the first disengages the previous one. We had this transmission on board our Jetta and as you’ll see, managed excellent acceleration times. Besides improving the propulsion package, Volkswagen also firmed up the suspension . The steering seems more responsive as well. In short, the GLI means a better driving experience. Although highway handling is not as unique as it once was, Volkswagen offers a very well balanced GLI. It has better handling and less over steering.
Plus, the added aesthetic touches are a good fit. The front chrome has been replaced by a black grill and the bumper gets an aggressive new look. The beautiful, red-coloured test car was certainly turning heads. The 17 inch wheels chosen work well with the GLI lines. However, Volkswagen should have gone to performance tires because these Michelin Energy, devoid of any sport attributes, slide rapidly when challenged in the corners. Volkswagen joins other vehicle makers who stress durability over adhesion. Better griping tires would stabilize the ride and shrink braking distances making the driving experience more pleasurable. |
